The creation of artificial ulcers in dogs

The company Roche was carrying out research to find a cure for stomach ulcers and thought it had perfected products that they then tested on dogs.

In effect, this animal has digestive organs very similar to those of humans. Henri Storck was asked to film these interventions. He was fascinated by the beauty of the exposed organs, lit from behind, and by the precision of the surgeon’s gestures. Henri Storck kept a few rushes, some unused film, without synchronous sound. He said that the commentary was very explanatory and the images were difficult to film between the operating table that hid everything, and the disordered mass of the entrails.
